[Preorder]: Miles Davis - Supervinyl MoFi titles

Some more news out of MoFi. These titles are all now preorderable by calling Music Direct. List price is $60. All are on supervinyl and I believe 33RPM:

Bummer In A Silent Way isn't done yet

They said at one point that they wouldn't press any of the 33s again, which I thought was strange. But I think some of their licensing agreements are such that they're not allowed to compete with Sony's own offerings. Silent Way is available on mass-market 33. But yes, I agree that would be a good title to do. I have a 1977 pressing that is good, but have heard the MFSL is excellent.

At this point these boutique labels can just print money -- the problem is getting time at a plant of course.

Good stuff. The Miles Davis MoFi 45's are some of the best sounding records I've ever heard.

They are awesome. I'd be kind of glad to get them on 33 instead and pick up the ones I haven't gotten yet. Particularly amped for the Bitches Brew One Step

so these are different pressings from the previous mofi releases of these titles?

Yes—slightly at least. Pressed on supervinyl at 33 RPM. Typically they will also recut when they do these as well but not 100% sure

Called yesterday. You can call tomorrow. They are closed on sundays. There will be plenty of time to get them. Not even a release date yet

Hmmmmm tempted for My Funny Valentine for sure. I have first pressings of most of these, but Funny Valentine being such a long LP, its cut quiet and not very dynamically. Tempted for Sorceror, the second quintet mofi LPs I have already are great (ESP, Miles in the Sky, Nefertiti) and getting one in 33 would be a fun comparison.

As stated in the post, you must call Music Direct to preorder. That's the only place that has them "announced" since they own MoFi.

Oh dang, I have most of these on Mofi 45 ( or in the case of OTC $ JJ the 33 releases ) but this would probably make me trade them, since i hardly ever spin 45s on my system. Did they have any sort of release date ?

no release date at all. my guess is sometime in the next 2 years though based on current wait times for MoFis...i'd probably wait to sell any until these start actually getting released because MoFi has cancelled things in the past or changed the formats. Eldorado by ELO was supposed to be a One Step but got changed to a regular 33 supervinyl.

Do you know if they charge when shipped or on order ?

They charge when shipped if you call Music Direct. MoFi charges on order (can't order through them yet anyway though).
